I'm a graphic design graduate (suma cum laude). I'm an artist... I work in a office answering a phone all day. tongue

It's time i set my dreams free and really started shooting for the stars. I've waited long enough.

So, with that in mind, I need a start. I'm anxious to learn and am looking for any sort of internship or advice or teachings or ANYTHING to help get me off the ground. If you need help with your project - I'll do the dirty work. If you need a gopher - I'll get your coffee. I just want to see how it's all done.

I've vertually no experience, but I'm an over achiever and am so anxious to learn it hurts!

I want to fly - give me my wings.

If you want to get into some area of film making my advice is to buy or borrow a camera (a video camera, a super8 film camera) and start filming things. Then edit these things together and then add music, then do it again....an infinitum...(nauseum).
The hardest thing is to get started. Once you have made one film (even a crappy short) then people start to get interested.
Once you have a portfolio you may see when the time is right to try and get a different job, and show this portfolio/video tape of your work to a company.
Attend cheap weekend courses, and make friends with people who are interested too. Find or found a local film making club....you might be suprised at where this takes you....
Put up adds for special effects people, camera people etc...in colleges and schools and newsagents.
Read lots of books and film magazines....
    surf the web.
    Good luck.

NOBODY KNOWS. If it's meant to be it will. If you've natural talent then it will happen.
Don't listen to what anyone tells you because Nobody knows.... Write and grab a camera.

I agree. Nobody knows but you.
Write down your ideas. Grab a camera and film them.
As it says in 'The Alchemist': Once you start listening to your heart and acting on it, the whole Universe conspires to help you.
Things fall into place, and if they dont you dont care, because you are doing what you love doing. If you decide its too much hassle then do something else. But give it a damn good try.
Im afraid there isnt much more advice I can offer. I hardly feel qualified to offer advice anyway. Its unexplored territory and to get there you need to make that first step. (Journey of 1000 miles starts with the first step, after all.....)

I absolutely agree. The best way, in my opinion, to do is to go out and do it. Figure it all out for yourself. Not only does this make you smarter and better at problem solving it will also leave your mind UNCLUTTERED by other peoples ideas of the "right" way to do things. Other people can be a huge help. But if they aren't the right type of people they'll give you "rules" and tell how things should be done. That's the biggest fault that anyone can make in this.......FOLLOWING RULES. Your heart and mind will tell you how to do things.....do them that way. You'll make more original products then and that's what this world really needs. Enough carbon copies out there. Good luck. Grab a camera and make a movie. It's the best fun and most rewarding thing I've ever done.

    Good luck and Happy Shooting.
    Tash.
